The Spanish gerund is a verb form that ends in -ando or -iendo and is used to indicate an ongoing action. It is equivalent to the English present participle (-ing form) and is often used to express actions that are happening at the same time as the main verb. For example, in the sentence "Estoy comiendo" (I am eating), "comiendo" is the gerund form of the verb "comer" (to eat). **

Both gerund and gerundive are correct, but they serve different grammatical functions in Latin. A gerund functions as a verbal noun, used to express actions or states as objects of other verbs. A gerundive, on the other hand, is a verbal adjective, used to express necessity, obligation, or propriety. Understanding the distinction between the two is important for accurately translating and interpreting Latin texts. **

It is declined like a second declension neuter noun and can take direct objects. The gerund can be used in various constructions, such as genitive, dative, accusative, and ablative, and can also be modified by adverbs and adjectives. **

Gerunds can be used as the subject or object of a sentence, or as the object of a preposition. They are commonly used to express actions or activities in a more general or abstract way. **

After "look forward," the gerund is used because "look forward" is a phrasal verb that is followed by a gerund to indicate the action that is anticipated or expected. For example, "I look forward to meeting you" or "She looks forward to traveling." In both cases, the gerund form of the verb (meeting, traveling) is used after "look forward" to express the action that is being anticipated or looked forward to. **
