Pepe became a Nazi meme due to a combination of factors. The character of Pepe the Frog was initially created as a harmless and fun internet meme. However, as the meme gained popularity, it was co-opted by various online communities, including some far-right groups, who began using Pepe in racist and hateful contexts. This association with extremist ideologies led to Pepe being widely recognized as a symbol of hate and intolerance, despite its original innocent origins. **

No, Pepe the Frog was not originally created as a Nazi symbol. Pepe was a popular internet meme that was created in 2005 by artist Matt Furie. However, in recent years, the character has been appropriated by some far-right and white supremacist groups, who have used it as a symbol of hate. This has led to the character being associated with Nazi ideology, but it is important to remember that the original intent of the character was not to promote hate or extremism. **

Pepe the Frog is considered racist because the character has been co-opted by white supremacist and alt-right groups as a symbol of hate and bigotry. The original innocent and light-hearted character created by artist Matt Furie has been transformed into a symbol of hate through the spread of racist and anti-Semitic memes and images featuring Pepe. This misuse of the character has led to its association with racist and hateful ideologies, leading to its classification as a racist symbol. **
