Therefore, while the Weimar Republic faced internal and external threats to its republican ideals, it was not accurate to say that it was a republic without republicans. **

The Weimar Republic is often called a "republic without republicans" because it was established in the aftermath of World War I in Germany, a country with a long history of monarchy and authoritarian rule. The republic was formed under the pressure of revolution and was not fully embraced by all segments of society, including the traditional elites and military. As a result, the republic faced opposition from both the left and the right, with many groups seeking to undermine or overthrow it. This lack of widespread support for democratic principles and institutions meant that the Weimar Republic struggled to establish a stable and enduring democratic system, ultimately leading to its downfall and the rise of the Nazi regime. **
